Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I earate? Do I need to?
Easy test: walk on your lawn, does it feel slightly spongy? Or hard like concrete? Almost all lawns can use to be “loosened up” loosening the soil or aerating allows grass roots to flourish underground. They can grow easier and deeper providing a substantial root base and thus a healthier, larger, thicker, fuller grass above ground. AKA the beautiful lawn you want and everyone else envies!
Why should I have my lawn mowed weekly? Why not every other week, or monthly?
Grass is a plant like any other there are healthy ways to treat it and unhealthy. You should never have to cut more than ⅓ of the grass blade. Just cutting the tip off the grass reduces the stress on the plant and encourages healthy growth. Allowing the grass to grow tall not only thins the individual blades but the entire lawn, thinning allows for bare spots were weed seeds germinate & cause more damage. As well when you cut tall grass you shock the plant and risk killing it entirely.
Why should I mulch my garden? And why not just a bag?
Mulches prevent loss of water from the soil by evaporation. Mulches reduce the growth of weeds, when the mulch material itself is weed-free and applied deeply enough to prevent weed germination or to smother existing weeds. Generally speaking a base of 4” of Mulch is ideal, up to 6” surrounding trees.
What's the benefits of a raised vegetable garden?
Having a raised garden for your fresh veggies is a great way to easily have the freshest organic fruit & vegetables at your fingertips. With raised beds there's no digging, no tilling, and its fully contained. Easy to keep your plants organized & give them plenty of room to grow. Being that they are usually up at least 6-12” off the ground They keep pathway weeds from your garden soil, prevent soil compaction, provide good drainage and serve as a barrier to pests such as slugs and snails, even the few weeds that do make it in the soil makes them easier to pull & less bending down for you!
All that aside they can also add a great deal of beauty to your yard.
